SUMMARY:WielerZesdaagse Rotterdam 2026
DESCRIPTION:The six day race is a gloriously old-fashioned mix of track cycling\, music and beer. Riders race in pairs around a steep wooden track for six evenings\, with points\, sprints and madison relays deciding the winners\, while the crowd in the infield eats\, drinks and sings along. \nRotterdam’s version has moved from its traditional January slot to the start of December\, which makes it a handy pre-Christmas night out with colleagues or friends. You do not need to understand the scoring to enjoy the speed and the atmosphere. \n\nWhen: Tuesday 1 to Sunday 6 December 2026. Sessions start at 19:00 from Tuesday to Friday\, 15:30 on Saturday and 13:00 on Sunday.\nWhere: Ahoy Arena\, Rotterdam Ahoy\nTickets: from €15 via Ticketmaster\, with parking sold separately\nGetting there: from Rotterdam Centraal take metro D or E to Zuidplein\, then walk a few minutes to Ahoy.\n\nGood to know: evening sessions run late\, so check the last trains home before you settle in. \nPlanning your year? See everything on the events calendar.

SUMMARY:ISU Speed Skating World Cup Heerenveen 2026
DESCRIPTION:If you have never seen speed skating in the Netherlands\, Thialf is where it makes sense. The Dutch treat this sport the way South Africans treat rugby\, and a World Cup weekend in Heerenveen means a packed stand\, a brass band and a lot of orange. \nThe third World Cup round of the 2026/27 season lands on the Sinterklaas weekend\, so expect a few Pieten in the crowd too. Even if you cannot name a single skater\, the noise when a Dutch rider hits the final straight is worth the trip north. \n\nWhen: Friday 4 to Sunday 6 December 2026\nWhere: Thialf\, Pim Mulierlaan 1\, Heerenveen\nTickets: sold through schaatsen.nl\, check the official site for prices and session times\nGetting there: trains run to Heerenveen station\, about 2 km from the rink\, with local buses and taxis for the last stretch.\n\nGood to know: the ice hall is cold\, so bring a warm layer and a hat even though you are indoors. \nPlanning your year? See everything on the events calendar.

SUMMARY:NK Allround and Sprint Speed Skating 2026
DESCRIPTION:Need something to do in that strange gap between Christmas and New Year? The Dutch national allround and sprint championships fill it nicely. Allround means skaters race several distances and the best all-rounder wins\, while the sprint title goes to whoever is fastest over the short distances. \nBecause Dutch skating is so deep\, a national championship here is often stronger than international races elsewhere\, and places for the European Championships a fortnight later are on the line. It is a relaxed holiday outing with serious racing on the ice. \n\nWhen: Sunday 27 and Monday 28 December 2026\nWhere: Thialf\, Pim Mulierlaan 1\, Heerenveen\nTickets: via schaatsen.nl\, check the official site for prices and times\nGetting there: train to Heerenveen station\, then a local bus\, taxi or a walk of roughly 2 km.\n\nGood to know: holiday train timetables can be thinner than usual\, so check your return connection before you go. \nPlanning your year? See everything on the events calendar.
