SUMMARY:European Speed Skating Championships Heerenveen 2027
DESCRIPTION:The ISU European Allround and Sprint Championships come to Thialf in January 2027\, which means Europe’s best skaters racing in front of the most knowledgeable crowd in the sport. Allround skaters tackle a mix of short and long distances\, while the sprinters battle it out over 500 and 1000 metres. \nHome crowds at Thialf are famous for lifting Dutch skaters\, and a championship weekend has a proper sense of occasion. Go for one session or the whole weekend: there is always a race on and the orange army keeps the volume up. \n\nWhen: Friday 8 to Sunday 10 January 2027\nWhere: Thialf\, Pim Mulierlaan 1\, Heerenveen\nTickets: via schaatsen.nl\, check the official site for prices and session times\nGetting there: train to Heerenveen station\, then a local bus\, taxi or a walk of roughly 2 km.\n\nGood to know: dress warmly and consider a seat cushion\, as sessions are long and the stands are chilly. \nPlanning your year? See everything on the events calendar.

SUMMARY:NK Afstanden Speed Skating 2027
DESCRIPTION:The NK Afstanden are the Dutch single distance championships\, and for many fans they are the most nerve-racking weekend of the skating year. Each distance\, from the 500 metres to the 10\,000 metres\, is a straight shoot-out for a national title and\, often\, a place in the team for the World Championships. \nExpect big names\, tight margins and a crowd that knows every split time. It is a great introduction to the sport if you want to understand why the Dutch get so emotional about people going round in circles on ice. \n\nWhen: Friday 22 to Sunday 24 January 2027\nWhere: Thialf\, Pim Mulierlaan 1\, Heerenveen\nTickets: via schaatsen.nl\, check the official site for prices and session times\nGetting there: train to Heerenveen station\, then a local bus\, taxi or a walk of roughly 2 km.\n\nGood to know: bring a warm jacket and gloves\, and some cash or a card for the famous Thialf snack bar. \nPlanning your year? See everything on the events calendar.

SUMMARY:Cyclocross World Cup Hoogerheide 2027
DESCRIPTION:Cyclocross is cycling’s muddy winter sport: riders race laps of a short course through sand\, mud and steep banks\, jumping off to carry their bikes over obstacles. It is huge in the Low Countries\, and the Hoogerheide round traditionally closes the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup season. \nThis is the home race of the Dutch stars\, and the crowds line the tape several deep\, with beer tents and frites stands everywhere. Once inside\, spectating is easy: wander the course and watch the riders come past every few minutes. \n\nWhen: Sunday 24 January 2027\nWhere: Hoogerheide\, North Brabant\nTickets: check the official site for course access and VIP options\nGetting there: take the train to Bergen op Zoom or Roosendaal and continue by local bus to Hoogerheide.\n\nGood to know: wear waterproof boots. The mud is not just for the riders. \nPlanning your year? See everything on the events calendar.

SUMMARY:Jumping Amsterdam 2027
DESCRIPTION:Jumping Amsterdam is the capital’s big indoor horse show and has been running for more than six decades. Top international riders compete in World Cup show jumping and dressage\, and the evenings turn into a proper night out with music and shows between the classes. \nYou do not have to be horsey to enjoy it. The jumps are huge\, the arena is close to the action and there is plenty of shopping and food around the halls if the children lose interest. \n\nWhen: Thursday 28 to Sunday 31 January 2027\nWhere: RAI Amsterdam\nTickets: from €15\, check the official site for the full programme and prices\nGetting there: Amsterdam RAI station is a short walk away\, with trains from Schiphol and Amsterdam Zuid\, or take metro 52 from Amsterdam Centraal to Europaplein.\n\nGood to know: evening sessions are the most atmospheric and run late\, so book a daytime session with young children. \nPlanning your year? See everything on the events calendar.
