Once a year the Bollenstreek (bulb region) puts its flowers on wheels. The Bloemencorso is a parade of huge floats covered in hundreds of thousands of hyacinths, tulips and daffodils, accompanied by decorated cars and marching bands, travelling all day from Noordwijk through Lisse and Hillegom to Haarlem. The scent alone is worth the trip.
For anyone living around Haarlem or Zandvoort this is the local spring event of the year, and you can simply pick a spot along the route.
- When: Saturday 17 April 2027. There is a light parade in Noordwijkerhout on the evening of Friday 16 April, and the floats are built on 14 and 15 April
- Where: a route from Noordwijk to Haarlem, via Lisse and Hillegom
- Tickets: free to watch along the route; grandstand seats are sold separately
- Getting there: from Haarlem station you can walk to the final stretch of the route in the city.
Good to know: check the route map and timetable on the official site closer to the date, and combine it with a visit to Keukenhof.
