Every October Utrecht turns the Janskerkhof, one of its prettiest squares, into an open-air celebration of bokbier. Breweries big and small pour their autumn bocks, from classic dark and malty to the more adventurous barrel-aged versions, and the whole thing has a friendly, gezellig feel.
It is a handy one to combine with a wander through Utrecht’s old centre and canal wharves. If you missed the big Amsterdam bock festival, this is a very decent second chance.
