For one season the Mauritshuis and the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid are swapping 25 masterpieces each. That means The Hague gets a rare visit from works by Jan van Eyck, El Greco, Bronzino, Piero della Francesca, Dürer and Antonello da Messina, without you needing a flight to Spain.
Highlights include Van Eyck’s Annunciation Diptych and Michael Sweerts’ Boy with a Turban, which is shown in the same museum as Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring. The Mauritshuis is small enough to see properly in a couple of hours.
