Castlefest is the fantasy festival of the Netherlands, held in the grounds of Kasteel Keukenhof in Lisse, just down the road from the bulb fields. Elves, knights, witches and trolls wander between stages of folk and pagan music, fantasy authors, medieval crafts, themed food and a sprawling market.
It runs over four days with camping on site, and the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming to all ages. Costumes are encouraged but not required. The 2027 line up has not been announced yet.

- Getting there: Buses run to Lisse from Leiden Centraal and Haarlem; plan your route on 9292.nl. Parking must be bought in advance
Good to know: Nearby hotels and B&Bs fill up fast, so book accommodation early if you are not camping.
