CHIO Rotterdam is the Netherlands’ only five-star equestrian event, held in the leafy Kralingse Bos park. The world’s best riders compete in show jumping and dressage Nations Cups, and the Grand Prix of Rotterdam on the final day is the headline act.
It is as much a summer garden party as a sporting event. Between classes you can wander the shopping stalls, eat and drink in the Stroodorp village with live music, and picnic under the trees. 2027 is the 78th edition.

- Getting there: from Rotterdam Centraal take the metro towards Kralingse Zoom, then walk into the park; check the official site for any shuttle.
Good to know: bring sun cream and a jacket: you are outdoors all day and June in Rotterdam can do both.
